In March 2021, Carrefour Brazil reached an agreement to acquire Grupo BIG from Advent International and Walmart, subject to approval from Brazil’s antitrust watchdog CADE (The Administrative Council for Economic Defense). This was approved on 25 May 2022, subject to Carrefour disposing of 14 stores in anti-competitive locations.
