Global fuel forecourt operator, EG Group has made two more acquisitions adding further foodservice and food retailing assets to its extensive portfolio of gas stations.  These latest purchases are of The Herbert Group in the UK, the country's largest single franchise operators of the KFC brand, and of Oliver's Real Food in Australia a leading innovator in fresh and healthy food-to-go.

Herbert Group brings 146 KFC restaurants

Euro Garages, EG's UK forecourt operation has included KFC restaurants in a number of its developments since 2017, but this acquisition now significantly scales up its position as a franchisee of the brand, enhancing its role as a player in the fast food market, and also gives it a presence in Northern Ireland for the first time.  As well as including KFC in a number of its forecourt locations EG has already developed a number of standalone sites, including some drive-thru formats.

Oliver's Real Food brings on-trend 'natural' fast food proposition

Claiming to be the World's first certified organic fast-food chain Oliver's Real Food has grown to encompass 25 sites across south-eastern Australia, winning recognition for offering healthy, fresh and natural alternatives to traditional players in the road-side space.  Though progress at the business has faltered in the recent past, the return of its founder, Jason Gunn, to be CEO again has restored stability and the backing of EG should enable it to move forward once more.

Mike McMenamin, CEO, EG Australia commented:

'Oliver's has developed a strong following in Australia, and has been very well received by our customers in trials at a number of our stores.  This acquisition presents a great opportunity for us to enter the Australian restaurant market and the potential to enhance our convenience offer across our 500+ store network.'
